Home-and-Family Across the Border to Tijuana The sunny city of Tijuana is the most frequented border city and is easily accessible from San Diego via the trolley that goes right to the border. Despite its close proximity to the US, Mexico vacations in sunny Tijuana allows you to shop at the legendary Avenida Revolucion where you will find the amazing bargains of beautiful Mexican handicrafts, leather goods, cigars, silver, beadwork, jewelry together with imported goods at bargain prices. You can soak in some cultural experience at the Tijuana Cultural Center or at the Municipal Institute of Arts and Culture. Try out something new by watching a Jai Alai game at the Jai Alai Fronton Palace, place a bet at the Greyhound race at Hipodromo Caliente or sit on the edge of your seat with the exciting though bloody bullfight at El Toreo de Tijuana and the Plaza Munumental Playas de Tijuana. Right in Tijuana you will experience the many colors and flavors of Mexico and it is something you should never miss. The Surfing Waves of Escondido Puerto Escondido or the Mexican Pipeline is popularly considered as one of the top ten surfing areas in the world. It hosts the Mexpipe Challenge in February and an international surf contest in November. Small and big waves alike are available for both professional and amateur surfers. There are several beaches in Puerto Escondido but the Playa Zicatela is not ideal for swimming as it is the main surfing beach with strong rip tides that will pull you in as well as some of the best and strongest waves in the world which topples even the popular Hawaii Banzai Pipeline. Even the most professional surfers have suffered accidents here so extreme caution is required for even the very experienced surfers. One area that has fast and challenging waves is the Point. The Far Bar at the end of the beach break is another surfing area with the most surfers since the waters there is deeper than other areas and the waves break further from the shore. Puerto Escondido is a must in the Mexico vacation itinerary of avid surfers. Guadalajara Itinerary Choices Guadalajara pulsates with the colorful and vibrant culture of Mexico and is a wonderful addition to your Mexico itinerary. The picturesque views and the exhilarating festivals of Mexico with its mariachi bands is more of an attraction in Guadalajara than its beaches. A trip to this city is focused more on sightseeing, dining and shopping. The city is rich in historical 17th century and Victorian buildings as well as is imposing and unique cathedrals. There are also many local restaurants that will give you the authentic taste of Mexican cooking. Beach lovers though can also have fun at the beaches of Guadalajara with its white sand and endless sunshine. Guadalajara is certainly a wonderful addition to your Mexico vacation. Whale Watching in Mexico The sight of whales frolic playing or cavorting or even just plainly swimming in the waters never fails to evoke a sense of admiration and marvel. Gray whales migrate annually every fall from the cold waters of Northern Bering to the Sea of Cortez to give birth and spend winter months in the warm waters of the Pacific that are rich with food. The best place in Mexico to watch these huge but gentle whales with their calves is Magdalena Bay just off the coast of Los Cabos. San Ignacio is equally as famous for whale watching but there is a higher possibility of seeing the whales in Los Cabos than any other location in Baja especially during the peak season from the end of December to the end of March. Strict guidelines are followed during whale watching tours so that the whales are protected. Include this age-old annual tradition and be a part of this Mexico vacation adventure.
